Syringe services programs (SSPs) are community-based prevention programs that can provide a variety of resources such as access to and disposal of sterile syringes and injection equipment, screening and treatment for infectious disease, and substance use treatment. This article provides an overview of effective SSPs and highlights the benefits of SSPs, including positive impacts on communities.
