How Law Enforcement Agencies and Officers Can Work Proactively With Health-Adjacent Programming—Part 1: Naloxone

The opioid epidemic is a public health crisis requiring a holistic, responsive, and flexible approach. Through health-adjacent programming, multiple community entities such as law enforcement or medical providers are able to combine their resources and work together in a more preventative role. This article describes the important role and efficacy of law enforcement in using and distributing naloxone in preventing overdose deaths through training and naloxone leave-behind programs.
