SCREENING FOR SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS: AN ELEARNING RESOURCE FOR JAIL STAFF
The course is organized into three sections.
This course is appropriate for all jail staff, whether directly conducting screening or serving in a supportive role. The purpose of this course is to help jail staff understand the basics of screening for substance use disorders (SUDs) among individuals entering jail. Upon completion of this course, learners may obtain a certificate of completion and should be able to describe the purpose and importance of screening, explain the difference between screening and assessment, apply best practices in communication to engage individuals in the screening process, and recognize and effectively respond to situations commonly encountered.
